This was pretty frustrating because I've had the basic image in my head for such a long time and it took a lot of developing and trying out things before it became an actual, tangible idea that I could paint. Even then, at that stage, I had a lot of trouble "telling the story" so to speak. The elements finally work together although I am sure there are a lot of things I could improve upon.
Here's a close-up of the fire girl's face. It's now the opening image to my portfolio site.
Hopefully I can finish this personal painting before the New Year as well. Not much to say about it now except it seems to be following a trend of portraits of people with organic, floral shapes.
I've been messing around with positive and negative shapes and wanted to give it a try in an actual artwork. Here is the sketch that sort of started it:
